Cheap Terrain for the Campaign
The Campaign map is almost built, with a massive 50+ tiles covering Artic, desert, jungle and city sections of the board.
This in theory sounds awesome, with lots of variation for people to fight over, however:
- How are we going to paint all that shit up with limited time, bearing in mind most of the terrain is at adams workshop, and we have our own armies to paint up.
- Do we actually want to commit to painting the workshop terrain different themes.
I was looking on warseer for idea's and i found a thread started by a guy who makes terrain out of paper, the concept sounds shit, but what makes it awesome is the fact that he uploads his templates for everyone to use, they look pretty easy to put together, and require zero painting. The thread is here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226343.
Some pics of what it could look like:

I've got a fair bit o scenery in Bath! Loads o bunkers, 2 sets o necromunda buildings, loads o trees and other bits and bobs including loads o tank traps! Also have a load o templates for card buildings as well!!
ReplyDeleteAlso you can make really quick craters out of the silver aluminium things you get Pies/Cakes in! Just turn'em upside down shape'em PVA'em and then paint them to match the rest of your scenery!
ReplyDeletecool, i think we should take a look at your templates and mess around with this kind of idea because if it means that we dont have to spend extra time painting terrain, and we can also make terrain for specific areas of the campaign map, like Destert/western style stuff for the desert, Artic stations for north, Jungle forts for the Jungle's etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso another thing i've been thinking about is more Terrain to block Line of Sight, because i think it makes for a much more interesting game if theres cover/choke points to fight over, instead of everyone being able to see each other and basically having a straight forward rush/shoot off.
